I’m a combination of things: social anthropologist, filmmaker and creative/marketing consultant.

+ Social anthropologist
I’m fascinated by human beings and why they do what they do. I conduct all kinds of research, drawing on insights and methodologies from anthropology, a discipline that takes us beyond our everyday assumptions and experiences, to bring about new perspectives on people and culture. I aim to give clients access to the anthropologist’s expertise in observing, describing and interpreting human behaviour. I develop fresh ways of thinking about brands, organisations and audiences.

+ Documentary filmmaker
I make documentaries for clients who want to understand more about their customers and audiences. I also make my own documentaries. These
occupy a space between the ethnographic, observational filmmaking of the anthropologist, and the arguably more creative, personal approaches of the documentary filmmaker. I aim to make insightful, intelligent documentaries, grounded in an understanding of and a sensitivity towards people and culture.

+ Creative/marketing consultant
I work with a range of people and organisations – brands, businesses, charities and arts organisations –  to bring a more human dimension to creative development, communications, strategic thinking, social media, innovation and so on, creatively combining insights, ideas and references with actionable strategic and creative recommendations. I help organisations connect on a more human level with their audiences.

Strong Combination is a where all of these things intersect, where I offer my skills to clients, as well as being a platform for my creative and research interests.
